I'm probably one of the people that would piss you off and I never (or almost never) farm or power trade.

If you're in the Southern Shiverpeaks you should have more money just from playing. My guess is you are saving too many gold weapons to try and see if they're worth big bucks and then you end up leaving your "trash" drops laying on the ground. Pick up everything. Seriously. Everything. Empty your inventory so that you CAN pick up everything. Then ID everything, even white stuff -- ID it and it will sell for more at the merchant. Also ID the Runes that you take off of armor separately from ID'ing the armor (yes, ID the armor, remove the rune with an expert salvage kit, ID the rune). Most superior runes will sell for 25g to the rune trader with an Unid'ed rune, but that will jump to between 100 and 200g for an ID'ed rune -- it makes a difference in the long run. Also, always check minor (light blue) attribute runes at the rune trader, those are oftentimes worth good money, and it's no big loss if the armor breaks.

One night of regular play should get you over a plat easily if you just pick up your stuff, ID it and sell it to the merch/trader.

Find someone you trust and ask them to look at the golds that you're saving. If they tell you to merch something merch it. If they tell you they'll buy something, ask them to wait and get a price check from Ventari's on here just to be sure they aren't scamming you. Chances are the fella that offered you a guild invite in this thread would be a great person to ask to do that for you. There are very few items in Prophecies that are worth more than the merchant is offering you, so don't be disappointed if you're told to merch everything.

I have a question and thought;" This is the thread to place it in !"
I have always been told that Charr are vulnerable to fire damage. However, i can't find anything to back this up. You might have guesed my question by now: Is this true ?
It seems a bit odd to me, when they do fire damage themselves. Something like "heat"& "kitchen" comes to mind... :-)

Kind regards; Joe.

Joe,

Sadly, I do not know the answer to your question. However, like a good scientist, I reccomend you do an experiment or two.

Find some charr, set them on fire, and record the results.

I would be interested in seeing your compiled data!

Looking at some of the armor levels on Wiki, it's false. In fact, charr have no increased or decreased resistances to anything in particular. The +20AL vs. physical for Warriors and +30AL vs. elemental for Rangers still holds though.

Look here and click on a specific charr type to see their armor levels: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Charr...f_hostile_NPCs

Regarding the charr and fire damage... I've been told this as well. I play an elementalist, and when I began developing my toon, I focused on fire - it's "what I know," since I'm a Diablo throwback and always focused most of my skill points into fire there.

Took me a while to figure out that GW most definitely is not Diablo. LOL I've actually had to learn to create and work with builds that focus on the other elements as well... my fire by itself is all but useless against Destroyers, but toss up a little Winter cheer and down they go. Heavy AoE nuking, turned into cold damage. Yay!

With all that said, I've not experienced anything personally that shows me the charr are "weaker" if I pack my primary fire build. It doesn't seem to tank them any quicker/easier than if I load up my lightening skills, or earth. I think the only reason my fire build might seem to work more smoothly is because a) I am supremely comfortable with it, b) I can set off my spells effectively without even thinking about it, and c) fire deals some seriously heavy AoE damage all by its lonesome. When you're dropping a nuclear bomb, no one at ground zero cares if it's 5kiloton or 20kiloton... they're just as dead, yeah?

And really... I just love killing charr. They're probably my all-time favorite foe (except for "rocketydoo!!!'s" in Diablo... or cows with giant axes...) to fight, no matter what element I'm packing.

But a specific weakness to fire? Not that I've observed.

They sure do crumble nicely under pretty much any AoE barrage, though.

OP:
Re: Making money:
You got plenty of good advice already. Once you finish a campaign, I suggest you start thinking about getting those mission bonuses you didn't get before.

Then start thinking about hard mode, for missions and vanquishes. Vanquishing a zone nets me at least 2-3k each time from drops and finishing vanq bonus. Also, start looking for Nicholas the Traveler. If he's in a zone you can access too, try to get the item he asks for. You can get up to 5 gifts per week from him and the stuff you get from the gifts can actually be pretty useful:
You get sweets, party items or booze if you want to work on those titles.
You get Merchant and Mysterious Summoning Stones which summon an ally while playing. That Merchant is really useful to unload stuff while you're vanquishing.
There's a few other things you can get from him, but they're not as useful to you at this point in the game.

So, to make money as a new player (and get a few titles while you're at it):
ID everything once you get to an area where henches are Level 20.
Finish a campaign (get that perfect weapon you wanted)
Get those mission bonuses.
Do Hard Mode Missions (with bonuses too)
Vanquish and explore (hey, you're clearing the zone, might as well unfog it as well!)
Look out for Nick (short for Nicholas the Traveler)
Check the Zaishen missions stuff
Until you get to max armor area, try to get the collector's armor : they ask for a drop instead of money and while trying to get more of that drop, you can earn more money
If you bought and runed a non-max armor, salvage the runes off it so you can use them on the new armor
If you have Nightfall, try to go to the "Treasures" every 6 weeks or so (too often and your return diminishes)

With all that, you should have a comfortable cushion in no time.
